A healthy smile leads to a happy life. Whether you subscribe to the mantra that says “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” or otherwise, being on top of your dental health is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Who would want cavities anyways? In between your routine dental check-ups, the team at 419 Dental recommends the following tips and tricks to care for your teeth at home:
- Brush and floss your teeth regularly. Taking 5 minutes out of your morning to thoroughly brush your teeth can make all the difference for your dental health. After all, no one wants to be walking around with that distinct morning breath all day. Don’t forget to floss!
- Use fluoride toothpaste when brushing your teeth. Fluoride is known to help strengthen the enamel in your teeth. It is advisable not to swallow toothpaste when brushing your teeth, as this can potentially cause stomach pains.
- Avoid teeth-staining drinks such as coffee and soda. We get it. Sometimes you need that routine cup of espresso to get your workday going. We’ve all been there. Although the occasional coffee indulgence isn’t harmful, over time, your teeth may begin to take on a new shade if you drink excessive amounts of coffee or similarly dark-colored rinks without proper cleaning.
- Steer clear of tobacco and alcohol. One of the main contributors to teeth discoloration lies in excessive tobacco and alcohol use. Not only will avoiding these substances contribute towards better dental help, but it will also minimize the potential for severe diseases such as cancer.
- Schedule routine dental visits with your dentists. Keep your smile shining bright white with routinely scheduled appointments with your dentist. Regular teeth cleanings and check-ups will ensure your dental health is up to par.
- Make sure to wear dental guards or aligners consistently. If you’re someone who is required to wear aligners or guards daily, you must stick to the daily requirements. Based on the degree of your dental alignment, your dentist or consultant will advise you on how often you should be wearing your dental augmentations.
